However, 316L can be annealed to withstand the attenuation of welding. Additionally, it is a suitable stainless for high temperature, high corrosion projects, which is why it's so popular in marine and construction.
It is not clear if 316 or 316L is the most affordable option. The 304 is comparable to the 304L and 304L, however, the price is much lower. Neither is as durable as the 317 and 317L which are stronger, have greater molybdenum content as well as better general corrosion resistance.
